When you first look at this book you wonder: “What does Spirituality have to do with vocal technique anyway??? Is this some kind of New Age book???”

But when you start reading, you get a most precise, cohesive, non-pretentious way of learning and understanding. You immediately comprehend, that this is not the “everyday voice lesson”. This is completely different from anything you have ever heard or known. This book changes your life !

You will finally know how to get your voice into the place each and every time without even thinking about it…. how to experience the feelings, that you always thought you should have, when everything is just right. You will know how to achieve the sounds without hurting, soreness or forcing…and then you think you have arrived in heaven…and in a sense, you have.

It has taken Dr. Arman 25 years, teaching literally thousands of students all over the world, to learn how to teach this approach in such a way, that when she stands in front of a hundred people, you think she is teaching just you. Her workshops and master classes are happenings of unequaled passion and joy. There is an energy that you have never felt before and you know immediately that everything you are learning is TRUTH.

Her master classes are usually six hours: three hours are reserved for technique and in the other three, she works technique into the voice with whoever wants to have it done.

The results are nothing short of stunning. In a matter of minutes voices are transformed into beautifully vibrating instruments that seem to be soaring without any inhibition. There seems to be no physical effort involved and the first time you feel this, you will be absolutely astounded that this is even possible…and how, after all you have been taught, nothing like this has ever been mentioned before.

Very few singers come to Dr. Arman just at the beginning of their vocal training. They arrive in her studio when they are in trouble. It would be so much easier if they learned it right from the beginning. Alas…unfortunately by the time they get to her, usually after three or four teachers, the instrument is, in most cases, damaged…but NEVER beyond repair. The miracle of this work is, that even the most “seemingly damaged” instrument can, in a relatively short time, be salvaged and repositioned and sound as though nothing was ever wrong.

Students from all over the world come to her studio in Brooklyn New York or she flies ‘wherever’ to do her work with individuals or groups.

I might mention at this point, that she does not sing – not one single note. How she does it defies explanation. You have to experience it!!!

Everything is done purely by communication. She has an uncanny and extraordinary way of knowing precisely where the student produces every single note. She then proceeds to INSTRUCT the student via the knowledge she has imported previously, to make the appropriate changes. It is a special language, a special knowledge that takes about three hours to learn. Once the student knows the language, they can work in person or over the Internet and achieve incredible results.

Because of her NOT Singing, she is the only woman internationally that is actually allowed to teach Orthodox Rabbis and Cantors, since in the Jewish Religion, a man is not allowed to hear the singing voice of a woman….and she teaches entirely without singing.

Hello Shirley:

Thank you for arranging for Dr. Miriam to be there on Saturday. There is a lot information to digest. Ginny demonstrated a perfect example of what Dr. Miriam was telling us to do on the phone Sunday morning. Truly phenomenal! It made an INSTANT difference in Ginny's sound. I cannot wait to get my book! Thank you for arranging the workshop . . . I am focusing on taking the breath in the manner suggested by Dr. Miriam, and I am finding that it helps me release the worry and unnecessary technical tricks I've been doing.

After listening to her sensible knowledge, I wonder how I'm going to feel when I hear those well-meaning chorus members make suggestions that actually make singing much more complicated than need be. I hope that Sweet Adelines directors are aware of Dr. Miriam's book – Gloria

The Third Edition is the culmination of 25 years of work with every conceivable kind of voice and voice problem.

Dr. Arman not only works with singers, but also with voices that have been disabled due to vocal cord nodules, spasmodic disphonia, (for which doctors inject Botox …SHE repositions those voices without medical intervention of any kind with exceptional results). She works with children and adults who stutter (stuttering goes away,) and older people who have terrible wobbles in their voices. She technically reconstructs those voices to sound young and vigorous - no operations, no speech pathology, just the repositioning of the instrument out of the throat, in order to allow the instrument to vibrate properly without any constriction. (I might mention that many speech pathologists have used her method for their patients with great success.)

Sounds like a miracle, right?

Well, that brings us back to the beginning: What does spirituality have to do with the voice? Obviously a great deal. Technique is one aspect only, the rest comes from a deep place inside that she knows how to attach you to. Once all the important aspects are “reconnected to the source”, birth knowledge kicks in and you are ‘guided’ back to the original position of the voice -- yes, just like when you were a baby and everything was functioning properly.

The journey is fantastic, complex, simple, extraordinary, powerful, fulfilling, mind boggling, life changing, elating, magnificent, transforming.
